Chantal Kiener has always enjoyed discovering lesser-known artists. She has thus exhibited collections of works by artists such as the Frenchmen Louis-Nicolas Cabat, Henry Cros, and Georges Dorignac, the Belgian Armand Paulis, and the American Florence Este.
By appointment, she presents the art she has always championed: paintings and drawings from the 19th and early 20th centuries, with a particular fondness for preparatory studies in all disciplines. She remains especially attached to landscape studies executed en plein air from the late 18th century and the early decades of the following century. For example, she showcased a series of landscape studies (oil on paper) by Johann Jakob Frey (1813–1865) at the Salon Fine Arts Paris in 2018, and in March 2022, a collection of works by Louis-Nicolas Cabat (1812–1893), including drawings and oil sketches created between 1837 and 1852. She selects works that move her for their quality, originality, strength, and poetry.
In 2017, she contributed to the rediscovery of the work of artist Henry Cros (1840–1907) by organizing a monographic exhibition featuring previously unpublished documents and over 50 works—sculptures, drawings, and paintings—several of which were acquired by French and international museums.
A founding member of the Salon du Dessin, where she regularly exhibited, she also helped establish the Salon Fine Arts Paris in 2017.
A lover of classical music, Chantal Kiener brings together art and music, offering opera set designs inspired by her discoveries.
